The boss of a San Francisco based private equity firm is being sued by his ex-girlfriend who claims he assaulted her in their home.
Jean Pierre Conte is being sued by his former girlfriend Hillary Thomas, after claiming he ‘beat her naked body’ as she ‘begged for her life’ in January 2022.
Thomas filed a lawsuit against Conte in Colorado, and also claimed that after she refused to continue their relationship he launched a smear campaign against her.
The suit asks for an unspecified amount in damages from Conte, who is the head of Genstar Capital, a private equity firm worth $49 billion. Conte’s lawyers say that the claims are nothing more than a money grab.
Thomas, who is an interior designer, claims that at their shared home in Aspen, Conte broke down a door to attack her and started beating her, all of which he has denied.

‘There’s no such thing as an intelligent woman’: With a father who once held a view like this, is it any wonder that the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, has such a very complicated love life – with at least 11 children by 3 different women?
Elon Musk has three children with Canadian singer Grimes (left). He was once besotted with Amber Heard (top right) and also dated actress Talulah Riley (bottom right). Last month, an explosive biography about the billionaire blamed the differences between father and son on Errol’s relationship with his 35-year-old stepdaughter Jana (with whom he had two further children). It is alleged Elon, 52, was completely ‘creeped out’ and went on to accuse his dad of being a manipulative, abusive father and husband.

Thomas claims in the documents that Conte admitted to the abuse and blamed it on his drinking in a note left to her, seen here
Court documents read: ‘The assault included Mr. Conte breaking down a door to attack Ms. Thomas and beating her naked body, pinning her down as she begged for her life and slamming her against the wall, all resulting in significant physical harm.’
According to Thomas, she then ran to the only other person in the home at the time, Conte’s chef, who sheltered her while her sister arrived and took her away.
Once at her sister’s home, Thomas claims she suffered blunt force bruises over her body which, according to her, were ‘excruciating’.
Thomas claims in the documents that Conte admitted to the abuse and blamed it on his drinking in a note left to her, but after she refused to reconcile he went on a smear campaign.
In the groveling apology note, part of which is ineligible, Conte writes: ‘I am so sorry. I love you and only want what it is best for you.’
Following the alleged altercation, Thomas claims Conte repeatedly attempted to silence her by interfering with her business, engaging in financial coercion and defaming her to their shared friends.
According to the suit, Thomas was seeking treatment due to the alleged incident and Conte had her health insurance cut off and stopped paying for healthcare expenses.
Thomas said in her suit that Conte had previously been verbally and physically abusive during their relationship.
According to her suit, Thomas designed the interiors of some of Conte’s properties, including his Napa Valley and San Francisco homes, and also helped him with real estate projects in Aspen and elsewhere.
Since the alleged assaults, she said she believes that he’s cut her out of those projects and also maligned her to other potential clients.
Thomas has also claimed that Conte actively spread what she describes as a ‘false narrative’ about the events, claiming he told friends and family she hired an attorney to get money from him.

One of Thomas’s lawyers, Sigrid McCawley of Boies Schiller & Flexner, told Mercury News: ‘This case against Jean-Pierre Conte is about holding to account an abusive man who believes his power and privilege puts him above the law.’
A lawyer for Conte denied the assault allegation and called the suit a ‘money grab’ by Thomas.
Kerry Wright Garvis also told the outlet: ‘Mr. Conte never attacked or abused her.’
According to his lawyer’s statement, Conte provided Thomas ‘millions of dollars in cash, gifts and support for her children during their relationship.’
Conte claims he first received a letter from Thomas’s lawyer raising an allegation of abuse after refusing her demands for more money following their split.
Conte is the current chairman and managing director of Genstar Capital, a equity firm with investments in healthcare, software and industrial technology.
A Colgate University and Harvard Business School graduate, Jean Pierre has gone on to find and fund multiple philanthropic organizations.
